Symptom Management as Service and Caretaking

The night before a kink conference, Rose braces Jardinero for social interactions, running through a list of people they expect to see and potential conversation starters. Jardinero ensures Rose's day bag is packed with portable chargers, snacks, and a water bottle for when they forget the necessary pieces of being a person. 

Living with mental health challenges and/or neurodivergence, we often have a variety of unique needs and symptoms that can make our lives more complex. BDSM, especially Authority Transfer and Power Exchange, give us unique opportunities to support ourselves and our partners in dealing with these symptoms.

In this class, we'll discuss how to utilize caretaking and service skills and BDSM roles to help manage symptoms and life.

Presenter Bio: 

Jardinero identifies as queer, Afro-Latino, neurodivergent, polyamorous, and as most importantly “just a lil guy.” They love physical and mental bondage, impact, fear play, power exchange, most things to do with rope and just about anything that combines nerdy with kinky. He approaches kink with a background in martial arts, sword play, and forensic science which defines their particular creative brand of sadism.  They have been exploring power exchange for over 7 years and continue to try and grow themselves through new experiences and opportunities.

A social work student with a love for teaching and a passion for power dynamics, Rose is thrilled to have this opportunity to share their knowledge and learn from their community. Rose is a mixed-race, queer, collared, polyamorous switch who has been exploring kink both publicly and privately for several years.
