<p>Partners who aren&rsquo;t married don&rsquo;t have legal rights concerning medical or financial matters for each other. Partners who aren’t married don’t have legal rights concerning medical or financial matters for each other. If your partner is unable to manage their medical, personal, or financial affairs for themselves, for whatever reason, if you aren’t legally related, there is little (nothing, generally) you can do to manage those affairs for them.

It’s the same concerning your partner’s children. In the current environment the assumption that every child has two, and only two, parents is common. One of the advantages to poly families is that there are multiple adults to help raise the children. However, non-legal parents/guardians don’t have rights concerning the children’s health care and can come across obstacles in other areas of the child’s life, too.

Powers of Attorney allow you to grant legal rights concerning decisions for your children, your personal medical care, personal care, and/or financial actions to a partner who otherwise would not be able to act on your behalf.

Powers of Attorney are perfect for everyone 18 and older.
